Youth will be served — in the most giving spirit.
That will happen when A Night of Covenant House Stars — benefiting the at-risk youth charity Covenant House — streams at 8 p.m. Monday on Broadway on Demand.
The concert — hosted by Broadway star Audra McDonald and “60 Minutes” anchor John Dickerson — will feature appearances by such music stars as Jon Bon Jovi, Dolly Parton and Dionne Warwick. Also helping the cause will be Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton and Stephen Colbert, among others.
But they aren’t the only ones raising money for youths: Grammy-winning great Roberta Flack hosts a virtual listening party of her songs, benefiting Feed the Children, at 3 p.m. Saturday.
You can expect to hear such classic Flack tunes as “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and, of course, “Killing Me Softly with His Song” during the event, which will stream on Rhino’s YouTube channel.
“Children need us now more than ever,” Flack said. “We want to be sure that people who need food get it. Each of us can give something … We’re in this together and helping each other.”
Clearly, the 83-year-old New Yorker still knows exactly where — and how — to show love.
