Dennis Rodman once ditched practice with the Chicago Bulls in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals — to wrestle with Hulk Hogan in World Championship Wrestling.
The flamboyant hall-of-famer “took a detour” during Game 3 to star in WCW’s “Nitro” alongside the Hulk and others, as depicted in the final episode of “The Last Dance” Sunday night.
“I wasn’t trying to do anything,” Rodman said on the hit docuseries, according to Fox News. “I was just trying to play basketball, party, da da da, f–k all the girls. Just be me, Dennis. I think [former Buls coach] Phil [Jackson] realized that I needed to always do me, just go do what I do.”
The Bulls went on to topple the Utah Jazz, 4-2. Rodman was sneaked out the back after practice ahead of Game 4 to avoid the media over the PR debacle.
Rodman’s off-court dramatics were chronicled in ESPN’s “The Last Dance,” a 10-part series spotlighting Michael Jordan and the Bulls’ 1997-’98 season — and the forward’s infamous 48-hour mid-season “vacation” to Las Vegas.
