Maryland mom busted for leaving kids in locked car to get nails done

A Maryland mom was busted for leaving her kids alone in a car while she got her nails done at a salon — all while defying coronavirus lockdowns, according to a report.

Keontae Moodie, 22, allegedly left her 3-year-old girl and baby boy in the locked Honda for an hour last week to go to First Class Nail Salon in Randallstown, news station WBFF reported.

Police responding to a call reporting child neglect found the youngsters inside with no adult supervision, and used a baton to break the driver’s window to rescue them, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Officers were ultimately able to locate Moodie inside the nail salon, which had its shades drawn, the newspaper reported. She was charged with two counts of leaving children unattended.

“We’re still in a pandemic and we still don’t have the solutions to the problem,” Baltimore County Police Sgt. Vickie Warehime told news station WBFF. “Getting your nails done should not supersede the safety of your family, your kids, and others who you put yourself in contact with.”

The nail salon, which police say wasn’t authorized to be open amid coronavirus restrictions, was ordered to shut, the outlets reported.
