Fauci ended up a loser.
Despite being the favorite in the third race Wednesday as horse racing returned to Belmont, the 2-year-old named after Dr. Anthony Fauci finished in second place.
According to Post handicapper Vic Cangialosi, “Fauci ran a socially distant second in the rain. Prisoner won handily. Winner paid $4.60. The exacta paid $4.70.”
Wednesday’s races marked the first sporting event in New York in 80 days after leagues and organizations shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic.
