American Airlines will begin filling planes to capacity on July 1

American Airlines will resume filling planes to capacity starting July 1, the company announced Friday.

“As more people continue to travel, customers may notice that flights are booked to capacity starting July 1,” the airline said in a statement.

“American will continue to notify customers and allow them to move to more open flights when available, all without incurring any cost.”

Free flight modifications — including date, time, and location — will be in place through Sept. 30, the company said.

In addition to an existing mask requirement, passengers will be surveyed pre-flight “if they have been free coroanvirus symptoms for the past 14 days,” according to the statement.

Pre-check-in, all travelers will fill out a symptom checklist developed in consultation with Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

“Our customers trust us to make every aspect of their journey safe. We won’t let them down,” Chief Customer Officer Alison Taylor said.

The airline told The Post in May that it had limited flight capacity to 50 percent.
