The Bronx NYPD precinct commander who is quitting to protest the department’s handling of police reform and anti-brutality protests will walk out of the 46th Precinct for the last time Friday afternoon.
According to a flyer circulating on Twitter, and sent to The Post by Guardian Angels leader Curtis Sliwa, Deputy Inspector Richard Brea will walk out of the stationhouse at 3 p.m. Friday.
Brea put in his papers after nearly three decades because his bosses are not giving him enough guidance on how to get guns and drugs off the street now that the department has disbanded and reassigned its anti-crime unit, Sliwa said Thursday.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea last week announced he was dissolving the unit because it was responsible for a “disproportionate” percentage of complaints and shootings.
Brea also griped about the department failing to give him guidance on fireworks enforcement, and that the NYPD was caught flat-footed by looters amid recent police brutality protests.
People attending Brea’s walkout are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear face masks.
