Video shows EMS beach vehicle burst into flames on Brighton Beach

An EMS beach vehicle caught fire on Brighton Beach, sending plumes of black smoke billowing into the air, videos show.

The ATV, part of the EMS summer Gator unit, burst into flames around 12 p.m. Friday, according to the FDNY.

Videos posted online show the ATV fully engulfed as smoke from the blaze poured over the Riegelmann Boardwalk near Coney Island Avenue.

Dozens of beachgoers were unfazed by the blaze — with one group even mocking an EMS worker trying to hurry to the scene, the videos show.

A spokesman for the FDNY said the agency believes it was a mechanical issue but it will be looked into by the fire marshal.

No one was injured and the ATV was taken back to the FDNY’s garage after the fire was extinguished by 12:30 p.m., officials said.
