A Chiefs Super Bowl victory left a mark on Kansas City — and rapper Post Malone.
After the team paraded the streets with the trophy on Feb. 5 to celebrate its Super Bowl LIV title, Malone extended an invitation to visit the Sprint Center before he was scheduled to perform at the Kansas City venue later in the evening. By the end of the night, Malone had Mahomes’ signature tattooed on his body after losing a beer-pong bet.
Mahomes showed up with a red jersey as a gift for Malone, and was quickly challenged to play a friendly game of beer pong with tight end Travis Kelce, according to GQ Magazine.
As Mahomes and Kelce dominated the folding table, Post Malone grew increasingly impatient for a single win, emphasizing his claim as a “pretty f–king competitive beer pong player.” He switched sides, partners, and even teamed up with Swae Lee, who joined him on his cross-country tour.
Malone was interrupted by his manager after about their 10th game, and was told to take the stage. Desperate for a win, the rapper continued on, until about game 15 when he decided to raise the stakes. Malone instructed the power duo to write their autographs on a piece of paper, and explained that if they were to beat him again that he would tattoo himself with their signatures.
“He has a tattoo artist literally in the room,” Mahomes told GQ. “I’m like, ‘Dude, you do not actually have to get a tattoo of our autographs.”
After the two took down Post Malone for the final time, the artist sat down to deliver on his word, and have the scribbled signatures permanently carved into his body.
Between the parade and the beer pong contest, Mahomes managed to end the day of celebration with a belly full of alcohol. During the interview with GQ, Mahomes unsuccessfully attempted to account for his intake as he surpassed the initial assumption that he consumed over 20 beers.
“Way over,” Mahomes said. However, he doesn’t “know how many full beers I drank, because half the beers were on my clothes.”
