Tyra Banks is the new host of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Tyra Banks is ballroom-bound.

The 46-year-old supermodel and businesswoman has been tapped as the new host of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” the series announced on Twitter, following the departures of hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.

“I’ve been a fan of ‘DWTS’ since its beginning … The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances … it’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk,” Banks said in a statement, according to People. “Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.”

On Monday, longtime host Bergeron, who had been part of “Dancing with the Stars” since its 2005 debut, addressed his exit on Twitter.

“Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me,” Bergeron, 65, wrote. “It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?”

Andrews, 42, thanked ABC for “6 memorable years” in a separate statement Tuesday. She had joined the show in 2014.

“Those years wouldn’t have been as special without my loving host Tom Bergeron, the talented dancers, and witty judges,” Andrews posted on social media. “I will always cherish my days on that set, even if I wasn’t the best at walking in heels.”

ABC and BBC Studios said Tuesday in a statement to Page Six that “Dancing with the Stars” would  “embark on a new creative direction.”

“Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the Dancing with the Stars family,” the statement read. “As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success. Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom.”

In June, former “Bachelorette” Kaitlyn Bristowe was announced as a contestant for Season 29 of the series.
