CBS reporter Nina Kapur was a passenger in fatal Revel moped accident
CBS New York reporter Nina Kapur was a passenger on a Revel moped when she was killed in a Brooklyn accident over the weekend, police said Monday.
Kapur, 26, of Newton, Pennsylvania, was riding the moped, driven by a 26-year-old man, at Franklin Street near India Street in Greenpoint around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, when “the operator swerved for an unknown reason,” according to police.
Both Kapur and the driver fell onto the roadway, cops said.
Both were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where Kapur was pronounced dead.
The driver, whose relationship to Kapur was not immediately known, suffered minor injuries, according to police sources.
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is probing the crash.
Kapur’s colleagues and classmates from Syracuse University remembered her as a “shining light” who was “excellent at what she did.”
