New York, we love you. And we’ve come up with an artsy way to show it — 193 new flags flying at Rockefeller Center.

The 8-foot-by-5-foot banners are fluttering on the iconic flagpoles that ring the ledge above The Rink.

Fittingly called the Flag Project, the public art installation, opened Saturday and will stay up through Aug. 16 for all to see — for free.

More than 1,000 folks from around the world dreamed up designs, which celebrate everything from the city’s art and music to our strength, and resiliency, the center said. A panel of notables picked the winning entries.

Also whipping in the wind are more than a dozen flags designed by acclaimed local artists, including Jeff Koons, Marina Abramović, Christian Siriano, Sarah Sze, Steve Powers, KAWS, Laurie Anderson, Hank Willis Thomas, Carmen Herrera, Jenny Holzer, Shantell Martin, Sanford Biggers, and Faith Ringgold.

“There are as many ways to celebrate the strength, vibrancy and spirit of New York as there are people in our City,” said Rob Speyer, whose Tishman Speyer runs Rockefeller Center. “We are excited to share all the original works in one place.”
