Joe Biden’s scandal-scarred son Hunter Biden will make a rare appearance on the final night of the Democratic convention on Thursday before his father is officially named the party’s nominee.
Hunter’s appearance comes as he faces a congressional probe into his business dealings overseas while his father was in the White House — including a lucrative role on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma, despite having no experience in the region or in the energy sector.
According to the Democratic National Convention, Hunter will appear with his half-sister Ashley and deliver remarks about their father.
President Trump’s campaign released an ad Wednesday zeroing in on the younger Biden, highlighting his role on a Chinese private equity board while Joe Biden was Barack Obama’s vice president.
Both men have denied any allegations of wrongdoing, but Hunter’s soap-opera personal life has been a major drag on his father’s campaign.
In May 2019, one month after he split with his brother’s widow, Hallie Biden, he married a woman he had know for only 10 days.
Several months later, it emerged he had fathered a child with an ex-stripper while he was in a relationship with Hallie.
His ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle Biden, with whom he shares three daughters, accused him in divorce proceedings of blowing the family’s money on “drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, strip clubs, and gifts for women with whom he has sexual relations.”
His lavish lifestyle has also raised eyebrows given his claims that he was broke in a recent paternity case and insisted he made no income since May 2019.
