Pence, Trump attack Biden for opposing Bin Laden raid
President Trump and Vice President Pence both attacked Joe Biden for opposing the US military raid that led to Osama Bin Laden’s killing during the vice presidential debate Wednesday evening.
Pence brought up Biden’s record on the raid at the vice presidential debate while speaking about the Trump administration’s killing of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in January.
“History records that Joe Biden actually opposed the raid against Osama Bin Laden. It’s absolutely essential that we have a commander in chief who will not hesitate to act to save American lives,” he added.
Trump then tweeted a pre-edited video of Biden speaking years ago about the Bin Laden raid, which shows him saying he told then-President Barack Obama to not move forward with it.
Biden’s account of whether he supported the raid or not appears to have changed over the years.
Trump has been tweeting apparent fact-check videos of Harris during the debate, dinging him on a range of topics including trade.
In one video, Biden is seen toasting with the Chinese president while a voiceover claims Obama and Biden’s economic policy “put China first, while American workers paid the price.”
