Sunday of the Week 6 NFL slate was a quieter day for injuries than we’ve become accustomed to this year.
There were, however, a number of injuries of undetermined severity to Raheem Mostert, Miles Sanders, Zach Ertz and Mark Ingram, all of whom could miss time pending further diagnostics.
Here’s a recap of the biggest injuries to players across the league and how it could impact fantasy football:
Raheem Mostert, RB, San Francisco 49ers (ankle)
Mostert exited early in the second half of Sunday night’s game against the Rams with an ankle injury he initially suffered before halftime. After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the running back tried to return but was ultimately unable and added, “we’ll find out [his prognosis] tomorrow,” via ESPN.
Before exiting, Mostert saw 17 carries for 65 yards and caught both of his targets for 11 yards. He has already missed time this season with an MCL sprain.
The obvious immediate beneficiary would be Jerick McKinnon, though McKinnon was eclipsed by undrafted free-agent rookie JaMycal Hasty, who saw nine carries for 37 yards. McKinnon had six carries for 18 yards and caught two of three passes for 11 yards. Hasty could be worth at deep league add if Mostert’s injury is serious.
Miles Sanders, RB, Philadelphia Eagles (knee)
Sanders was injured during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Ravens. It was initially unclear if would return as he lingered around the injury tent for a while but was eventually ruled out. He is set to undergo further imaging on Monday to determine the severity of the injury, per Fox’s Jay Glazer.
Before exiting, Sanders saw nine carries for 118 yards. He was replaced by Boston Scott, who had two carries for 4 yards and would be next up on the Eagles’ running back depth chart, along with Corey Clement and Jason Huntley.
Zach Ertz, TE, Philadelphia Eagles (ankle)
Ertz was also banged up in the Eagles’ loss to the Ravens and will undergo an MRI on Monday. He suffered an ankle injury and finished with four catches on 10 targets for 33 yards. The Eagles are already down one tight end with Dallas Goedert out with his own ankle injury. Goedert is eligible to return from injured reserve this week and would be highly valuable if Ertz’s injury is serious. Aside from Goedert, the Eagles have Jason Croom and Richard Rodgers on their tight end depth chart.
Mark Ingram II, RB, Baltimore Ravens (ankle)
Ingram injured his left ankle early in the first quarter of Sunday’s matchup against the Eagles and finished with five carries for 20 yards. Rookie J.K. Dobbins saw nine carries for 28 yards and caught two of four passes for 1 yard. Gus Edwards saw 14 carries for 26 yards and a touchdown.
After the game, head coach John Harbaugh said he didn’t believe the injury was “long-term,” per the Baltimore Sun. The Ravens have a Week 7 bye, meaning Ingram will have a week of rest. If the injury is more serious than initially suggested by Harbaugh, Dobbins and Edwards’ statuses would be elevated significantly.
Jonnu Smith, TE, Tennessee Titans (ankle)
Smith suffered an injury to his right ankle during the third quarter of the Titans’ overtime win over the Texans and finished the day with one catch on two targets for 13 yards.
Next up on the Titans’ depth chart is Anthony Firsker, who caught eight of nine targets for 113 yards and a touchdown. He could be worth an add in deep leagues if Smith misses time.
DeVante Parker, WR, Miami Dolphins (groin)
Parker exited Sunday’s blowout win over the Jets during the fourth quarter with a groin injury and finished with three catches on eight targets for 35 yards. The fifth-year wideout has been dealing with a multitude of injuries this season which have limited his performance. His absence could mean more targets for Preston Williams, who caught two of three targets for 18 yards and a touchdown, and Jakeem Grant, who caught all four of his targets for 48 yards.
