WASHINGTON — First lady Melania Trump will make her campaign trail return on Tuesday when she headlines an event in Pennsylvania after nearly a year-long absence, President Trump’s re-election campaign announced Monday.
The notoriously private first lady will appear alongside former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway in Atglen, where she will “share President Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda with Pennsylvanians,” a statement read.
The 50-year-old was due to join her husband at a rally in Erie last week but was forced to cancel because she was suffering from a lingering cough after her bout with the coronavirus.
Her visit to the Keystone State will follow her husband’s Monday blitz of the commonwealth, where he will headline three rallies as he tries to close opponent Joe Biden’s lead in the polls.
Aside from her Rose Garden speech at the Republican National Convention in August, the last time Melania Trump appeared at a campaign event was at her husband’s re-election kickoff rally in Florida in June 2019.
According to NBC News, she had planned to headline a series of high-profile fundraisers in spring but they were canceled when COVID-19 took hold in the United States.
