Thieves swipe cellphones, cash from Queens store at gunpoint
A pair of thieves threatened a Queens cellphone store employee with a gun before swiping a dozen cellphones and wads of cash, according to police and new video.
The duo walked into the Metro PCS store on Parsons Boulevard near 75th Road in Kew Gardens Hills around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and flashed a gun as the employee, a 20-year-old woman, stepped back, cops said.
The other suspect sifted through the cabinet behind the counter, pulled out new phones and placed them inside a black duffel bag.
The man with the gun then demanded that the employee open the register, which she did, cops said.
He grabbed wads of cash totaling about $522, police said.
In total, they made off with 12 phones — including the employee’s personal phone, which one of the thieves grabbed as they headed for the door.
They took off on foot, heading east on 75th Road.
One of them is described as a man with a slim build, last seen wearing a black face mask, eyeglasses, black pants, black shoes and a gray hooded sweatshirt with the Champion logo on the front. He was carrying the black duffel bag.
The gunman had a medium build, and was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt, a blue face mask, yellow and black gloves, black pants and black shoes, cops said.
The worker was not hurt during the robbery, authorities said.
Police released footage of the incident Monday in hopes of nabbing the robbers.
