Trump rallies now feature Jumbotrons playing Biden’s changing policy stances
President Trump has upgraded his signature act, rolling out enormous Jumbotrons at his rallies to play videos skewering Joe Biden’s shape-shifting stance on fracking, China and the North American Free Trade Agreement.
The clips also feature an unlikely hero: socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt).
At a rally in Lititz, Penn., on Monday, the president called Sanders a “tremendous loser” who did his campaign “some big favors” by hammering Biden’s record during the Democratic primary.
“You don’t have to take my word on his record, just take a look at this magnificent tape that we made for you,” Trump said.
“I’m supporting NAFTA because I think it is a positive thing to do and I do not pretend to be an expert on international trade maters,” Biden said in one clip to boos from the crowd.
In another video, the former veep said: “The idea that China is going to eat our lunch is bizarre. The idea that they are our competition, they’re going to beat us, is bizarre.”
The Trump campaign also showed videos of CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Sanders grilling Biden on NAFTA, which Sanders said had resulted in the loss of 160,000 jobs.
“You know we had a lot of Bernie’s people come with us last time because they agree with me on trade,” Trump said.
“They couldn’t have done but we did but they knew we were being taken advantage of by foreign countries,” he went on.
At a rally in The Villages, Fla., on Friday, the crowd cheered for Sanders as they watched another clip of Sanders hammering Biden in a heated row on Social Security during their final primary debate.
“You have been on the floor of the Senate time and time again, touting the need to cut Social Security, Medicare and veterans’ programs,” Sanders said to Biden.
“That is not true,” Biden snapped back.
Trump called the clip “devastating.”
“That’s a devastating video. I just saw it for the first time. That’s devastating,” he said.
