Beekman penthouse sells to ad exec for $12.5M

The penthouse of the iconic Beekman building in FiDi has sold for $10.4 million — down from its $12.49 million asking price, according to city records.

The buyer is LA-based veteran ad exec David Angelo, who founded David&Goliath. He bought the 51st-floor, three-bedroom, 3½-bathroom unit via an LLC, Scrappy 51, which was set up last August.

That’s the same month that the penthouse went into contract. Angelo has said his ad agency is based on the concepts of being brave: “Outwitting the competition, being nimble, scrappy and relentless.”

The same could be said of the penthouse, with interiors by Thomas Juul-Hansen in his signature earth tones and textures.

Think lots of cream and beige, glass windows with sweeping skyline-to-river views and 16-foot ceilings.

The 3,554-square-foot unit features wide oak floors, a 155-square-foot terrace and a 16-foot-high marble fireplace.

There’s also a windowed, eat-in chef’s kitchen that opens to the terrace and a main bedroom suite with two walk-in closets and an ensuite bathroom with radiant heated floors, limestone walls, a steam shower and freestanding tub.

Angelo will also have use of the building’s hotel and its services, including the gym, fresh flower delivery, housekeeping, travel reservations, event planning, a personal concierge and “priority” reservations at the Tom Colicchio and Keith McNally restaurants.

There’s also an 11th-floor lounge, private dining room, media room and rooftop terrace for residents only. The listing brokers were Douglas Elliman’s Emory Stewart and Eleonora Srugo.
