Trump tweets on Pennsylvania vote-counting claims flagged by Twitter

Twitter slapped another series of warning labels on President Trump’s tweets Saturday after he issued a chain of posts amplifying his claims of election irregularities in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

“Tens of thousands of votes were illegally received after 8 P.M. on Tuesday, Election Day, totally and easily changing the results in Pennsylvania and certain other razor thin states,” Trump alleged in one of the posts.

“What a total mess this ‘election’ has been!” the president complained in a later tweet citing allegations of glitchy vote-counting software that caused tallying errors in Michigan and computer crashes in Georgia.

The US Supreme Court on Friday ordered election officials in the Keystone State to segregate all ballots received after the 8 p.m. Election Day deadline that was set by the state legislature — but overturned in a contested state court decision.

Another tweet referred to “tractors” being used to block poll-watchers’ views of the counting process — but did not cite any evidence of such a scheme.

“Bad things took place during those hours where LEGAL TRANSPARENCY was viciously & crudely not allowed,” Trump charged.

All four tweets were soon hidden by the tech giant, which placed warning screens over the content to note that the president’s messages were”disputed and might be misleading about an election.”

Trump’s campaign has launched a flurry of lawsuits in battleground states, alleging that official observers have been barred from oversight of mail-in ballot counting.

Twitter’s repeated application of warning labels to screen access to Trump’s tweets drew presidential ire this week.

“Twitter is out of control, made possible through the government gift of Section 230!” Trump posted early Friday, referring to the federal law granting social media companies legal protection against libel lawsuits.
