John McCain’s widow Cindy reacts to Joe Biden’s election win

The widow of one-time Republican presidential candidate and Arizona Sen. John McCain on Sunday called Joe Biden’s election win “very exciting.”

Cindy McCain added in her interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America” that the Democratic president-elect’s victory speech Saturday was “what we needed to hear as a country.

“It’s time not just for Americans to get together and work together, but most importantly, it’s time that we Republicans put country first, not party,’’ said the GOPer, whose husband served as a senator and party stalwart for more than 30 years before dying of cancer in 2018.

John McCain had refused to endorse Donald Trump when the latter ran for president on the Republican ticket in 2016 — and famously snubbed the GOP commander in chief even in death, reportedly ordering his family not to allow Trump at his funeral.

McCain’s widow endorsed Biden in the Dem’s race against Trump this year.

She told “GMA” that she would work with the Biden administration in any way she could to try to help fix the current “divide” in the country.

Cindy McCain also urged Trump to do his part “by conceding in a gracious manner” — as her husband eloquently did to President Obama, former Veep Biden’s boss, after overwhelmingly losing to him in 2008.

“We need that not just for a peaceful process for all this — we need it for our country,’’ Cindy McCain said.

“Character, dignity — that’s what we’re missing right now.’’

Asked what advice her husband might have offered Biden, Cindy said McCain would have told the president-elect to “sit down and listen.

“It’s what Joe does really well, by the way,’’ she added of Biden.

As for the election of Biden’s running mate, California US Sen. Kamala Harris, as vice president, Cindy McCain said, “The first thing I say is, ‘It’s about time.

“She gives great hope to young women and little girls across the nation,’’ she said of the first female vice president.
