A 57-year-old man was shot dead by cops responding to reports of two men arguing in the street in England, police said.
The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. on Summers Street in the southwest town of Swindon, the Mirror reported.
The man was seen receiving CPR before he died in an ambulance en route to the hospital, the outlet reported.
Authorities haven’t released the identity of the victim or any further details surrounding the fatal encounter.
Local police have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has launched an investigation into the officers’ conduct per protocol, ITV News reported.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with all of those affected by this terrible incident,” the IOPC said.
“It is mandatory for us to conduct an independent investigation when the police fatally shoot a member of the public. We have established protocols with the police to ensure our investigations do not hinder their ability to conduct inquiries as part of their related investigations. ”
