A woman’s body was found floating in the water near Staten Island, according to cops.
The woman, who couldn’t be immediately identified, was spotted by a passerby at around 9 a.m. Saturday in the water about 100 yards from shore under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge near New York Avenue and Artillery Road, cops said. She was deemed a “Jane Doe” and believed to be between 40 and 50 years old.
The NYPD’s Harbor Charlie unit brought her to shore, where she was pronounced dead, cops said.
She was in possession of a $20 bill and a necklace, cops said.
