Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown seems to be at the center of a never-ending stream of trouble, but if you ask his head coach, the team doesn’t appear to regret signing him.
“He’s been a model citizen,” Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said on SiriusXM’s NFL Radio on Wednesday. “If and when he’s not, we’ll move on. He knows that. Our team knows that. I don’t really think we’re going to have any problems. We haven’t had any so far and I really would not anticipate any.”
The Bucs signed Brown last month after serving an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Recently, it came to light that Brown allegedly destroyed a surveillance camera and threw a bicycle at a security guard in a gated community in Florida not long before joining the team.
Arians said the team “knew of the incident” before they signed him.
Brown has also been at the center of a number of other legal matters over the past couple years, including accusations of rape by his former trainer, Britney Taylor, who filed a civil suit against him. He has a court date set for December. Another woman accused him of sexual misconduct.
He was also charged with battery after attacking a truck driver in January, and later felony burglary of a vehicle.
Buccaneers QB Tom Brady invited Brown to live in his home after the team signed him, apparently trying to keep him on the straight and narrow. Browns has 10 catches for 100 yards in two games since his return.
