Congressman Kevin Brady of Texas has tested positive for the coronavirus after receiving the first of two vaccine shots, he revealed.
The 65-year-old Republican is quarantining and plans to begin treatment Wednesday after getting the jab on Dec. 18, Brady announced on Twitter Tuesday night.
“Tonite the Office of House Physician informed me that I’ve tested positive for Covid 19 & am quarantined,” he tweeted. “As recommended, I received a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine Dec 18 & also recently tested negative for Covid on New Years Day. Begin treatment tomorrow. Shld be fine.”
The congressman, who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, will be treated at Walter Reed Medical Center — where President Trump received COVID-19 care — as an outpatient, a rep told FOX news.
“Per the advice of the Attending Physician, Congressman Brady is receiving outpatient treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center. I will be sure to update you if anything changes, and we are confident he will make a full and speedy recovery!” the rep said in a statement.
Brady serves the 8th Congressional District of Texas, which includes Houston, Montgomery, Grimes and other counties.
In 2017, he worked with the White House on a plan to create three federal tax brackets.
