Doug Pederson didn’t want to listen to Eagles anymore

Doug Pederson is done giving orders for the Eagles, and he’s done taking them, too.

The now ex-Philadelphia head coach, fired Monday following a 4-11-1 season, was “sick of people telling him what to do,” according to NFL Network.

Pederson, 52, garnered plenty of attention in Week 17 when he scratched struggling starting QB Carson Wentz in the Eagles’ season finale against Washington to start rookie Jalen Hurts, only to pull Hurts in the third quarter for Nate Sudfeld. Philly lost the game, 20-14, with the result moving the team from the No. 9 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft up to the sixth.

Pederson met with Jeffrey Lurie recently with ESPN.com reporting the owner was not sold on Pederson’s plan for the coaching staff, which included promoting quarterbacks coach Press Taylor to offensive coordinator.

The Eagles now join six other teams — the Chargers, Falcons, Lions, Jaguars, Jets, and Texans — in the hunt for a new coach so far this offseason.
