FBI wants help finding rioter who waved Confederate flag while storming Capitol

The FBI wants help from the public to identify one of the Confederate flag-carrying rioters who stormed into the US Capitol last week.

The federal law enforcement agency’s Washington field office on Sunday asked for the public’s assistance to put a name to the face of a goateed man caught in photos inside the US Capitol on Wednesday alongside other pro-President Trump extremists, including the self-styled “QAnon Shaman.”

The unidentified man — who appears to have a tattoo beneath his left eye — is being sought for making “unlawful entry” into the Capitol, FBI officials said.

Investigators released four photos of the man, including one as he held a large Confederate flag and another while standing with a group of other accused rioters, including Jacob Anthony Chansley, a shirtless Arizona man whose horned headdress went viral online.

Chansley, also known as Jake Angeli, called FBI officials in Washington on Thursday and later surrendered to police. Federal authorities announced his arrest Saturday along with that of Adam Christian Johnson, a 36-year-old man allegedly seen on video making off with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lectern, and Derrick Evans, a freshman member of the Virginia House of Delegates who recorded himself taking part in the siege.

Evans, who streamed himself entering the Capitol on his Facebook page, later apologized for his actions and resigned.

Two other alleged US Capitol rioters, including a retired US Air Force lieutenant colonel and a man photographed with a handful of zip ties, were charged Sunday in connection with the siege, which left five people dead.

Dozens of other alleged rioters have already been arrested and charged on offenses including assaulting police officers, entering restricted areas of the Capitol, stealing federal property and threatening lawmakers.

Anyone with information about the man seen in the photographs released Sunday should call the FBI’s tip line at (800) 225-5324.

“When calling to provide a tip on this individual, please reference Photograph #30,” FBI officials said.
