California man charged in fatal Brooklyn shooting

4/19/20 A shooting took place at the corner of Linden Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue around 9:00am this morning. A gun was recovered, as well as a knife, and some clothing. Allegedly, a vehicle drove away with a shattered window. The crime scene was set up on both side of Pennsylvania Avenue, with yellow tape around the Mobil gas station (detective pictured photographing the knife) on one side and more yellow tape set up across the street at the BP gas station. A Los Angeles man has been nabbed for fatally shooting someone in East New York last year, police said.

The suspect, Dashawn Garland, 28, of Inglewood, is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.

Police responding to a 911 call April 19 found New Jersey resident Michael Ingram, 33, shot in the chest outside a BP gas station at Linden Blvd. and Pennsylvania Ave. about 8:55 a.m., authorities said.

The NYPD’s Violent Felony Squad apprehended Garland with the assistance of the LA County Sheriff’s office Major Crimes Fugitive Task Force, police said.

Garland was indicted last month and arrested in Inglewood Jan. 29, police said.

The suspect was brought to the 75th Precinct Friday, said an NYPD spokesman said, who had no immediate information on the motive for the slaying.

A witness ID’d Garland out of a lineup back in June, and investigators during the probe learned the murder suspect had split to SoCal, police said.
