Russell Wilson price tag emerges as NFL teams show rabid interest

NFL teams acted quickly at the first sign of discord between Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

According to NFL.com’s Mike Silver, one third of the league has called Seattle to gauge their interest in trading the superstar quarterback.

“What’s realistic price if the Seahawks were to trade Russell Wilson? I think you start with something like three-first round draft picks. That’s kind of the message that other teams believe would be conveyed,” Silver said on Monday.

Wilson went on a media tour earlier this month where he openly discussed his Seahawks future and frustration with the number of times he’s gotten hit behind the offensive line.

“I’m not sure if I’m available or not,” Wilson told the “Dan Patrick Show.” “That’s a Seahawks question…. Yeah, I definitely believe they’ve gotten calls. Any time you’re a player that tries to produce every week and has done it consistently, I think people are gonna call for sure. I think that’s part of the process.”

The Seahawks were reportedly annoyed by Wilson talking publicly like that, though early indications were they were unwilling to trade the 32-year-old. Has that changed weeks later with that three first-round pick price tag?

The situation certainly caught the rest of the league’s attention. And in an offseason where Matthew Stafford was dealt from the Lions for two first-round draft picks, and Deshaun Watson is trying to force his way off the Texans, any potential price tag is worth noting.
