Trump sends well-wishes for ‘true champion’ Tiger Woods after car crash
Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday tweeted through an associate a get-well message for golfer Tiger Woods following a serious car accident in California.
“Get well soon, Tiger. You are a true champion!” Trump said in a quote shared on Twitter by his spokesman and adviser Jason Miller.
Twitter permanently banned Trump from using his own account following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Woods, 45, has had a close relationship with Trump, who owns many golf courses. Trump and the PGA superstar golfed multiple times during his presidency.
In 2019, Trump awarded Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a Rose Garden ceremony attended by Woods’ mother, children, girlfriend and caddie, Joe LaCava.
“Tiger Woods is a global symbol of American excellence, devotion and drive,” Trump said at the time. “Tiger, we are inspired by everything you have become and attained.”
