Panic! Panic! Just kidding, it’s three games into a 162-game season. The Yankees lost two of three games to open the season against the Blue Jays in The Bronx. The bats didn’t do much, but they did get six dominant innings out of the bullpen Sunday from Michael King. Shockingly enough though, Giancarlo Stanton was booed by some Yankees fans…on Opening Day. He then was not in the lineup on Sunday. Should fans boo a player this early, and should Stanton be getting a day out of the lineup so soon?
To answer these questions, break down what the guys saw in the first three games and look ahead to the series against the Orioles, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Yankees great Jeff Nelson, including an interview with two-time Yankees World Series champion Roy White.
Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris & Jeff:
- THE BATS: Gary Sanchez was a positive with two home runs already. He was also good at blocking balls in the dirt. They do not like Aaron Hicks in the third spot. Aaron Boone will probably adjust the lineup.
- GIANCARLO STANTON: Fans boo him on Opening Day. Is this a bad look on Yankees fans? Nellie says this is New York, and he was booed when he returned to the Bronx after winning four World Series for them. Should Stanton been out of the lineup so early in the season after they had a day off Friday?
- PITCHING: King was outstanding and a bright spot. Domingo German was not good. Corey Kluber was decent. Bullpen pitched really well. Curious to see Jameson Taillon’s debut on Wednesday.

Roy White Interview:
Former Yankees outfielder (1965-1979), two-time World Series champion, two-time All Star, former Yankees coach, The Roy White Foundation
- 15 YEARS WITH YANKEES: Underrated player. Wanted to be out there every day. The Yankees tried to trade him to the A’s in 1978 and he refused. Ended up winning second title that year. Going 10 years without going to the playoffs then making the World Series three straight years.
- LOU PINIELLA: Had a temper and never wanted to fail. He once knocked out all the lights in the clubhouse. He called everybody “son” because he would forget players names.
- SUN IN LEFT FIELD, PLAYING FOR BILLY MARTIN: Would be tough to see in afternoon games at the stadium. Only lost one ball in the sun. Scored more runs when he was moved up to the second spot under Martin.
- CURRENT YANKEES: Can’t pay attention to record in April. It’s a long season. Was glad he played for one team his whole career. You can’t rely 100 percent on analytics.
