Ereck Flowers headed back to Washington in Dolphins trade
Ereck Flowers is heading back to his old NFC East home.
Exhale, Giants fans, it is his other old NFC East home. The Dolphins traded Flowers to the Washington Football Team on Tuesday, NFL Network reported. The trade also involved a swap of late-round picks ahead of Thursday’s draft. The offensive lineman previously played all 16 games for Washington in 2019.
The 27-year-old was a massive draft bust for the Giants after being taken with the ninth pick of the 2015 draft. The 6-foot-6, 330-pounder struggled at both tackle positions for the Giants, and also had attitude issues.
The Giants released Flowers early in the 2018 season after he was benched for Chad Wheeler.
Since that time, though, Flowers has at least carved out a respectable NFL career with the Jaguars, Washington and the Dolphins.
The move, according to NFL Network, frees up some money for the Dolphins while giving Washington another potential starter on the offensive line. Flowers is in the second year of a three-year, $30 million deal he signed with the Dolphins before last season.
