President Biden has a Venmo account — and it was terrifyingly easy to find, according to a report Friday.
BuzzFeed News sniffed out the president on the quick-payment app after “less than 10 minutes” of looking, raising concerns about the first family’s privacy and security.
The website also reported that it had located “nearly a dozen” of Biden’s family members on Venmo and used the app’s public friends feature to sketch out their web of close contacts — including senior White House staffers.
The report did not reveal the usernames of Biden, first lady Jill Biden or first son Hunter Biden, the latter two of whom were also described as appearing to have Venmo accounts. BuzzFeed News also noted that while the president’s Venmo transactions were not made public, his list of public friends disappeared after the site reached out to the White House for comment.
The report details how online trolls, dangerous stalkers, and hostile intelligence agents could use the app to expose and exploit aspects of the Biden family’s personal life.
Two members of Biden’s extended family had already reportedly been contacted by a person who made multiple requests that they get the president to give the person money.
“If somebody wanted to map out the activities of the first family, they could just look at their activities on the social network and figure out what the family is up to by looking at what the what their associates are doing,” University of New Haven Secure and Assured Intellect Learning Lab Director Vahid Behzadan told the site.
When contacted by The Post, a Venmo spokesperson declined to say whether Biden’s account was still active, how long he had used the app and what steps were being taken to ensure the account’s security.
“We don’t disclose information about individual accounts,” said the spokesperson, who also declined to say whether the White House or another federal agency had contacted Venmo about the account prior to the publication of the BuzzFeed report.
The White House also did not respond to requests for comment.
