All rise. Aaron Judge’s bat has come to life after looking dead the week prior. Five dingers in six games is quite the way to turn the ship around. While the Yankees could not finish off the sweep once again on Sunday, they still won another series over the weekend in Baltimore. They are getting closer and closer to the top of the AL East standings with their turnaround the past two weeks.
To talk about Judge’s resurgence, a series win, a trip Jeff Nelson and I made to “Saturday Night Live” and a viral buzzer-beating call from Chris Shearn, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Shearnie and Nellie, featuring a chat with our pal Ken Davidoff.
Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:
- SERIES WIN: Keep winning series. Judge’s bat has come alive and they needed it. Filling void with Giancarlo Stanton out of lineup. Judge has been far better against bad pitching than facing good teams.
- ANALYTICS/.200 HITTERS: Lots of bad hitters so far this season. Hard to find .300 hitters. Analytics hurting the game. How hard ball is hit does not matter if it’s not a hit. Obsession today with hitting the ball hard.
- SNL/SHEARN’S CALL: Nellie and I talk about our trip to SNL and my attire. We grade Shearn’s buzzer-beating viral NY Liberty call.

- INJURIES: When will Zack Britton be back? When will Luis Severino return?
- KEN’S TWEETS: Are GIFs prepared in advance or based on news that day?
