A carcass of a bear cub was discovered in a Staten Island parking lot early Monday, cops said.
The male black bear was discovered lying face-up in the vacant lot, near the Dollar Tree at 77 Richmond Hill Road in New Springville, around 7 a.m., police said.
It had an open wound to its left torso. Cops did not know how it got there or how it was hurt.
A police officer from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was on scene, and a team from that agency will investigate the bear’s death, the Staten Island Advance reported.
The animal was carted off in a DEC SUV.
