Deliveryman stabbed in Brooklyn, drops off food anyway
Who ordered the hero?
New York’s most dedicated deliveryman got stabbed in the back by a fellow cyclist while on the job in Brooklyn — but completed his food run without even realizing he’d been knifed, according to cops and his manager.
The 53-year-old deliveryman was running an order from Lu Peking House on Fulton Street in Cypress Hills to an address about three blocks away when his mystery assailant pedaled up behind him around 4 p.m. Sunday.
“What happened?” the green-clad cyclist asked before pulling out a knife, stabbing the victim in the back, and riding off, according to authorities.
But the victim — whose name is being withheld by The Post — didn’t even realize he’d been stabbed as he dusted himself off and got the order safely to its destination.
“He gets up and goes and delivers,” the manager of the Lu Peking House told The Post on Monday, declining to give her name. “He delivers the food.”
It was only when the tough-as-nails grub-runner arrived back at the Chinese joint and relayed what happened that it became clear he was hurt.
“He feels his back and says, ‘It’s a little wet,’” recalled the manager. “He looks at his hands, he sees the blood.”
But that shocking discovery only further amped up the deliveryman, who bolted back out of the restaurant in search of his attacker.
“He ran out to look for the man,” said the manager. “I say, ‘No, come back!’”
Once the manager calmed down the deliveryman, he waited for an ambulance, which took him to Jamaica Hospital in Queens, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
The manager speculated that the deliveryman may have been targeted because he is Asian, but police said Monday that the incident is not being probed as a hate crime.
Speaking through his manager, the victim told reporters that he hopes the NYPD catches up to his attacker soon.
“He wants the police to find him quickly,” said the manager, relaying what the victim told her over the phone. “He’s scared.”
The unidentified attacker remained at large Monday afternoon.
He’s described by police as about 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing a green ski-mask and hoodie, with black pants and sneakers.
