A former Jets first-round pick has found his fourth team in six years.
Linebacker Darron Lee has been signed by the Raiders, according to an ESPN report.
The 26-year-old never became the star he was expected to become, but regularly has put out solid performances with the teams he was with.
For his three seasons with the Jets, Lee posted 241 tackles, three interceptions, and four sacks. While not building off his previous years’ performances, he recorded 74 tackles in his final season with the Jets in 2018.
The Jets declined to pick up a fifth-year option for Lee in 2018 and traded him to Kansas City for a sixth-round pick in the 2020 draft. With the Chiefs, Lee played in every game except the team’s Super Bowl win over the 49ers.
Last season, Lee signed with Buffalo, but failed to perform up to his previous levels of success. He faced a four-game suspension early in the season, and played in just two games, making one tackle.
The 2016 Jets draft pick will join Nick Kwiatkoski, Trayvon Mullen, Tanner Muse, Cory Littleton, Javin White, and rookie Divine Deablo at linebacker for the Raiders.
The Raiders have struggled with their defense, coming in at No. 30 in scoring, No. 30 in third down efficiency, No. 26 in passing, and No. 24 in rushing last year.
