A French bulldog lost her litter of seven puppies last month during a botched delivery at a Harlem veterinary clinic, a breeder claims in a new lawsuit.
Danette Arble says she lost out on nearly $25,000 that she would have made if she were able to sell the designer puppies — if they’d made it through the May 7 delivery, according to court papers filed Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Arble brought the pregnant pup, Mia, to the Heart of Harlem Veterinary Clinic — but the team there “failed, neglected and refused to perform a progesterone test or an ultrasound,” the complaint says.
The clinic then started a “premature Caesarean section delivery of Mia’s seven puppies,” which resulted in their death, the suit charges.
Arble, of Manhattan, says she had to then shell out for the funeral and burial expenses, while losing out on the hefty sum she would’ve made selling the popular pooches at $3,500 a pop, the court documents allege.
She is seeking to recoup the lost profits, as well as nearly $4,000 in vet and X-ray bills, the filing says.
The suit also claims Arble has been “deprived of the comfort, society, care, love and affection” of the puppies.
Heart of Harlem — whose owner, Dr. Luis Sola, is named as a defendant — did not return requests for comment. Sola did not immediately return a message left with the clinic.
