A Novak Djokovic superfan has taken her fandom to the next level.
During Djokovic’s opening match at Wimbledon on Monday, cameras captured an elderly woman cheering on Djokovic while clasping a blown-up shirtless photo of the tennis star.
Djokovic, the top-ranked male tennis player in the world, ousted British teenager Jake Draper in four sets with his superfan watching the action. The 34-year-old advanced to the second round to play South Africa’s Kyle Anderson in a rematch of the 2018 Wimbledon final.
It’s the second time a Djokovic fan has made headlines this month. Moments after his victory in the French Open final, Djokovic gifted his racket to a fan, causing the young boy to be overcome with emotion.
After outlasting Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his 19th Grand Slam title at the French Open earlier in June, Djokovic could tie Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for the most men’s Grand Slam single titles with a win at Wimbledon. Djokovic has won Wimbledon five times before, including the last two tournaments in 2018 and ’19.
