What caused heated postgame drama between Yankees and Mariners
SEATTLE — The only drama in the Yankees’ 4-0 loss to the Mariners on Thursday came after the game was over.
Kendall Graveman entered to pitch the ninth for Seattle and after going up and in on a pitch to Rougned Odor, the right-hander drilled DJ LeMahieu with one out.
The two pitches “looked suspicious” LeMahieu said. “It’s just baseball.”
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Graveman stared down LeMahieu after hitting him.
Aaron Judge followed by hitting into a game-ending double play and as the Mariners celebrated, the Yankee dugout emptied and Judge yelled at the Mariners, which Boone said was in response to Graveman staring down LeMahieu again.
“It was a frustrating game for us,’’ LeMahieu said.
