Inside the Aussie mansions of Amazon Prime’s ‘Luxe Listings Sydney’

Australia — the home of the Sydney Opera House, Rebel Wilson and kangaroos — is also home to some of the world’s most luxurious multimillion-dollar properties.

Amazon Prime is the latest streaming service to join the burgeoning genre of real estate reality television in the style of Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing” and Netflix’s “Selling Sunset.”

The “Luxe Listings Sydney” series follows three brokers, Gavin Rubinstein, Simon Cohen and D’Leanne Lewis, as they market $3 million to $30 million properties in Sydney.

Since 2019 and 2020, when the series was shot, the market in Australia has only gotten hotter, brokers told The Post in an exclusive interview.

“There is no stock, no choice and high demand. Simon will come to a property of mine and literally want to buy on the spot. It’s that sort of mindset right now,” Rubinstein told The Post.

Scroll through to view five of the most luxurious listings featured on the show — and find out whether they sold after the show.

1. Copper house

Wingadal Place, Point Piper | Sold: $30 million (USD)

While Cohen’s client decides not to buy the “copper house” in the show, it did end up selling for about $30 million in 2021, breaking Sydney’s record for the year as the most expensive sale. Realestate.com

“I didn’t like the ‘copper house.’ I thought the style and the flow of that was not my taste at all,” Rubinstein told The Post. Realestate.com

This mansion has over a million dollarydoos (or about $750,000 USD) of copper finishes, according to the show.

“I didn’t like the ‘copper house.’ I thought the style and the flow of that was not my taste at all,” Rubinstein told The Post.

Cohen and Rubinstein tour the “copper house” in Episode 3. The burnished house didn’t sell to the “Luxe Listings” stars’ clients, but it did end up selling for a record-breaking 40 million dollarydoos (about $30 million USD) in April 2021.

It also has a family room with a gas fireplace, a library and cinema, a Gaggenau oven kitchen, a second poolside kitchen, a European marble-lined infinity pool, a pool house and space for four cars. Realestate.com

First offered at 55 million dollarydoos ($41.1 million USD) when the show was filmed, it sold at more than a 25% discount. It is believed to have been Sydney’s the record for the year as the most expensive sale, according to Daily Mail.

The metallic home offers five bedrooms and six marble bathrooms across three levels with harbor views. The living and dining area is plated with a copper ceiling, the show reveals.

This castle made of local Sydney sandstone was built in 1903. It has only had two owners in its almost 120-year history, listing agent Michael Pallier of Sotheby’s International Realty told Cohen in the show.

The historic property has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a set of restrictions that limit updates in the main house. For that reason, the house comes with plans for a modern extension.

“In Sydney, you don’t get outside-the-box properties,” Cohen told The Post. “It hasn’t been modernized in forever. I loved the opportunity of it.”

“Usually the homes I show have high-tech cinemas, not dungeons,” Cohen told The Post. Realestate.com

The main house has a butterfly staircase leading past a tri-paneled stained glass window and pink floral wallpaper to the bedrooms. In the basement, stone walls reminded Cohen of a dungeon, he said.

“Usually the homes I show have high-tech cinemas, not dungeons,” Cohen told The Post.

The property, asking 33 million Australian dollars, or about $25 million USD, does not appear to have sold since the show was shot.

“My personal favorite property on the show was the Dover Heights house,” because of the property’s newness, size and views, Rubinstein told The Post.
