Tyron Woodley planning ‘violence and damage’ for Jake Paul fight

Many fighters have lined up to take down Jake and Logan Paul since the YouTube stars and brothers began boxing over the last four years.

But MMA star Tyron Woodley wants to do more than just win when he faces Jake Paul on Aug. 29 in Cleveland.

“From now on, there’s no point of me going out there and just winning anymore,” Woodley told MMAfighting.com. “My whole goal is to go out there and f—king provide violence and damage and win in a fashion where it looks like me and then everybody else.”

Unlike some of Jake Paul’s earlier opponents, Woodley is no stranger to fighting. The 39-year-old is an MMA fighter with a career record of 19-7-1 in the UFC. He successfully defended the UFC welterweight belt four times before losing it in 2019. However, this fight will be his first-ever boxing match.

Woodly won’t be Paul’s first UFC-based opponent, though. The YouTube sensation knocked out former UFC fighter Ben Askren in the first round of their April bought. The win improved Paul record to 3-0, with professional victories over former NBA player Nate Robinson and fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib.

Paul and Woodley are set to fight at 190 pounds, though Woodley fought t 170 pounds in the UFC.

While their fight is still over a month away, Woodley is bulking up for more that just one go at Paul — he believes a second fight is bound to happen.

“We’re probably going to fight twice, to be honest. This is going to be the biggest pay-per-view. You see the UFC even promoting [UFC 264 as], ‘Oh, this is the biggest pay-per-view of the year.’ It’s not. They’re only doing that because this is the biggest pay-per-view of the year,” Woodley said.

“How many times has Conor McGregor been about to fight and me get more attention than them? First time we’ve ever seen that. So I’m excited for this, and I think because of that, I think you’ll see us fight a few times.”
