Rams running back Cam Akers suffered a torn Achilles on Tuesday, just one week before training camp begins, NFL Network reported.
This could be a crushing loss for Los Angeles. Akers was their leading rusher in his rookie season last year, rushing for 625 yards over 13 games.
The 2020 second-round draft pick will most likely miss the entire season, making Darrell Henderson the Rams’ presumptive starter.
According to CBS Sports, the Rams’ playoff chances drop from 64.6% to 53.9 percent without the 22-year-old.
