Tom Brady jokes with Biden about election results, ‘Sleepy Joe’ nickname

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady on Tuesday joked with President Biden about the accuracy of election results and alluded to the disparaging nickname “Sleepy Joe,” popularized by former President Donald Trump.

Brady joked that “40 percent” of people doubt the team really won the Super Bowl — likening it to election fraud claims by Trump and his supporters.

Brady, a longtime Trump friend, said on the White House South Lawn that “not a lot of people, you know, think that we could have won. In fact, I think about 40 percent of the people still don’t think we won.”

“I understand that,” Biden tossed in.

“You understand that, Mr. President?” Brady added.

Brady also touched on Trump’s “Sleepy Joe” nickname for Biden during the White House event celebrating the February victory in the Super Bowl.

“We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was, I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing, and they started calling me Sleepy Tom,” Brady joked.

Before Brady spoke, Biden cracked his own jokes about Brady, 43, helping win the Super Bowl.

“As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing wrong with being the oldest guy to make it to the mountaintop,” said Biden, 78, who is the oldest-ever president.

“That’s how I look at it. And Tom, looking like you got about 20 more years left. You are just about the best ever play. And making it to 10 Super Bowls in the last 20 years, that ain’t bad, man.”

Brady has repeatedly called himself “a friend” of Trump. In 2015, he said “it would be great” if Trump won.
