Jill Biden ‘all decked out’ in Team USA gear as she cheers on athletes at Tokyo Olympics

First lady Jill Biden said she felt like “a kid on the first day of school” in her head-to-toe Team USA outfit as she barnstormed the Tokyo Olympics Saturday.

“As you can see, I’m all decked out,” Biden said as she arrived the American ambassador’s residence to attend a watch party for the US vs. Mexico softball game in white pants with “USA” emblazoned down the right leg, an official Team USA Ralph Lauren blazer, an American flag top, and blue-and-red-striped sneakers.

“As I walk down the hallway, I feel like a new kid – a kid on the first day of school,” she told the group. “You know how you have all your new clothes, but you didn’t wash them, so these jeans are so stiff. So, note to self.”

With a state of emergency in Tokyo amid a surge of COVID-19 cases, embassy staffers and foreign service personnel had to keep their face masks on throughout the event — with no refreshments allowed.

“I feel so terrible that we can’t offer you food – and a glass of wine – but they said no,” Biden said.

The first lady met up with French President Emmanuel Macron — after greeting him warmly at Friday’s opening ceremonies — at the nearly empty Aomi Urban Sports Park to cheer the American women’s basketball team as they beat France, 17-10, in 3-on-3 play.

“We walked over at the end and we just said, ‘Yo, thank you so much …’ Not ‘Yo.’ We wouldn’t … ‘Thank you so much for coming,'” Plum told USA Today. “She said she was just really proud of us.”

Later, members of the U.S. swimming team hailed Biden as she arrived at the echoing 15,000-seat Tokyo Aquatics Centre, chanting “Dr. Biden, Dr. Biden” and clapping as she waved and took her seat.

“FLOTUS in the house!” USA Swimming tweeted.

Finally, she headed off to see the US women’s soccer team pound New Zealand, 6-1, a crucial comeback after their devastating loss to Sweden in their opening Olympic match.
