Daughter of Florida collapse victim charged in NYC domestic assault
The daughter of a woman killed in the Florida condo collapse is now facing assault charges for allegedly slugging her boyfriend in the Big Apple, according to court records.
Ariana Hevia, 23, is accused of pummeling her lover with a “closed fist, causing lacerations, bleeding and substantial pain” to the man’s “nose and lips” at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday inside a Midtown apartment, a criminal complaint says.
She was charged with assault, attempted assault and harassment and released without bail on Sunday. The charges against her are not eligible for bail under the state’s new reform measures.
Hevia, who is originally from Louisiana, did not return a call for comment Monday.
Her mother, Cassondra Stratton, 40, was among 98 people killed in the June 24 collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside.
Stratton, a model, actress and Pilates instructor, called her husband, who was away on business in Washington, DC, shortly before the deadly collapse.
“Some pictures of my guardian angel,” Hevia wrote in a moving Facebook tribute to her mom last month. “She packed so much life in the 40 years she had on earth.
“She did not deserve to go out this way,” she wrote. “My life is now dedicated to making you proud, nothing less. I love you, mom.”
