Biden wears tan suit similar to one that sparked Obama ‘controversy’
Looks like Joe Biden has gotten Barack Obama’s tailor.
The president became a vision in tan Friday, as he delivered a speech in a suit that online wags couldn’t help but notice looked a lot like the one his predecessor infamously rocked at a press conference seven years ago — and which got him so roasted that it sparked “tan suit gate.”
Biden wore the fitted, sand-colored suit with a green tie and an American flag pin on his left lapel while reporting last month’s jobs growth — the same look that Obama wore in 2014 as he also gave an economic speech.
Back then, the political fashion police slammed Obama’s light-colored look as inappropriately relaxed, with Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) declaring that it revealed his “lack of seriousness.”
On Friday, Twitter users were quick to point out that Biden and Obama were twin suit buddies — with one observer calling it “the audacity of taupe” and others teasing that Biden is a suit coat copycat.
“Obama still wore it better. But thank you Joe,” one observer cracked.
Others wondered if Biden was “trolling” critics who blasted Obama all those years ago.
“Please tell me this is some sort of shade throwing!” another Twitter user wrote — while another tweeted sarcastically, “Will the tan suit scandal bring down the Biden Presidency and/or western civilization?”
A spokeswoman for Biden didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
