Teens on scooters go on cell phone swiping spree in NYC

A trio of teen suspects on scooters made a grab for cell phones from three victims in an Upper Manhattan spree last month, cops said Friday.

Surveillance video released by police shows two of the suspects riding on the sidewalk around 7:05 a.m. July 15, coming up behind a 51-year-old man and unsuccessfully trying to snatch his cell phone.

Police said the incident happened on Broadway in the 26th Precinct, which covers part of the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights and Manhattanville, though the exact location was unclear.

The duo rode off after the incident and soon targeted another victim, a 48-year-old man, on West 66th Street on the Upper West Side around 8 a.m. that same day, cops said.

The victim was talking on his iPhone when the pair came up from behind and snatched his device, police said.

Then the suspects turned left, heading south on Riverside Boulevard.

One of the teens continued the spree later in the day — but this time, joined by someone else, cops said.

The pair drove up to a 64-year-old woman sitting on a park bench at Riverside Park near West 78th Street around 4:35 p.m. and snatched the device from her hand, authorities said.

The thieves fled south on Riverside Drive.

Police said all three suspects appeared to be in their late teens.
