Here are three Jets takeaways from their 12-7 preseason win over the Giants on Saturday night at MetLife Stadium:
- The Jets’ defensive line is expected to be a strength of the team this year, and they got off to a good start on Saturday night. The Jets had five sacks in the game, and each level of their defense played well. Though the Giants rested many of their starters, the offensive line was mostly first-teamers. Bryce Huff led the team with two sacks.
- Vyncint Smith is making his case for a roster spot. The wide receiver had three catches for 39 yards and also had a big play on special teams when he downed a punt at the 1 in the fourth quarter. The Jets have a crowded receivers room right now with some tough decisions ahead.
- The running game looked promising when the starting offense was in. They were facing Giants backups, so don’t get too excited, but the holes were there and running backs Ty Johnson, and Michael Carter had some nice runs.
