Observations from Jets training camp on Wednesday.
Malone ranger
Wide receiver Josh Malone had a strong day, making three long catches from backup quarterback Mike White. Malone is going to have to fight to get a roster spot, but he has had some good moments in camp.
Mekhi, meh
Left tackle Mekhi Becton had a tough time with Packers linebacker Preston Smith, who beat him for two would-be sacks (if there were tackling) and got pressure on Zach Wilson a few other times.
Caught my eye
Cornerback Javelin Guidry made a nice play near the goal line during a two-minute drill. He forced Packers receiver Equanimeous St. Brown out at the 1-yard line, preventing a touchdown.
Zach Wilson’s day
Wilson was under a lot of pressure in practice with the offensive line struggling. He was “sacked” seven times by my count. He completed 12 of 23 passes, but two of those incompletions were drops.
Medical report
Safety Lamarcus Joyner (back) was a new addition to the injured list and did not practice. LG Alijah Vera-Tucker (pectoral) went through individual drills for the first time in two weeks. Rookie CB Jason Pinnock sat out with an undisclosed injury. TE Ryan Griffin (hamstring) did not practice.
