Queens couple charged after infant found locked in car in LI parking lot

A Queens couple was arrested after allegedly leaving their 1-year-old son alone inside their parked car for about an hour in a Long Island parking lot on Tuesday, police said.

The distressed baby was first noticed by a passerby inside the locked 2019 Mercedes-Benz that was parked in a high-end shopping center lot on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset at about 2:40 p.m., Nassau County police said.

The woman called police and responding officers broke one of the car’s windows to rescue the infant, police said.

The baby was “crying, red in color and drenched in sweat,” police said.

Officers took the boy inside an air-conditioned store before he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
